Currently living in Brooklyn NY, coming back from Tokyo Japan. Mei Kanamoto is a multimedia artist, working as an Art director at Monopo NY and an illustrator.

Born in Miyazaki, Japan. Mei graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York where she studied illustration. Mei’s notable work includes New York’s Metropolitan Opera’s winter holiday campaign “Holiday Magic at The Met,” in which she created a series of characters, illustrations and spot animation in 2017 & 2021. Her works have been shown at numerous exhibitions in New York, Rhode Island, and Manila.

In Tokyo, Mei established her role as Art director in 2018. Beginning her career at a creative agency called “monopo”, and since then, has played a key role in the global expansion of the monopo branch to London and In New York. Working with a client such as Jimmy Choo, agnés B, Shiseido, Nike, Yamaha, and more.

Mei works n various mediums for both work and pleasure taking her inspiration from her daily life, fashion, and other creative people around her. Mei is known for her colorful, vivid, and playful drawings filled with her passion for life and art. While her skills lie in her versatility and ability to adapt to various styles and mediums, she finds herself drawn to folk arts, polish posters, and patterns.
